Description
The building at 96 and 96A Grassmarket Mission in Edinburgh is a late 19th-century tenement that stands three storeys tall with an attic and features a public house on the ground floor. It is constructed from bull-faced squared and snecked cream sandstone, accented with polished dressings. There are moulded string courses that run between the ground and first floors, as well as between the first and second floors, with the centre bay stepping up. The roof is swept, and the ground floor has modern glazing and doors. The first and second floors have shoulder-arched windows. The attic features two crowstepped gabled dormers. The upper sashes of the timber sash and case windows have 6-pane glazing, while the lower sashes are fitted with plate glass. The roof is covered with graded grey slates.
