Description
178 and 180 Rose Street in Edinburgh is a tenement building dating from around 1790, with later alterations. It features three storeys and a mansard attic, comprising six bays and two shops at the ground level, which flank a common stair door. The exterior is constructed of coursed rubble.
The rear elevation is four storeys high and made of rubble, with a partly rebuilt two-storey, four-bay gabled block facing the lane.
The building has plate glass timber sash and case windows, with tilt and turn openings on the first floor. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are rendered stacks. The interior was not seen in 1995.
