Memorial Fountain, Abercorn Park, Abercorn Terrace, Edinburgh

The Memorial Fountain in Abercorn Park, Abercorn Terrace, Edinburgh, was built in 1914. This free-standing monument features two drinking fountains on the west and east sides, with a plaque on the north side. The plaque reads: "This fountain has been erected in remembrance of Dr Hugh Dewar- Portobello- by his grateful patients and numerous friends who deplore the loss in the prime of manhood of a kind and skilled and beloved physician- his quiet charity was known to the needy- 1866-1914." On the south side, there is a bronze relief portrait. The fountain is made of granite, polished at the base level, and includes a moulded base course and an obelisk topped with a ball finial above the dedicatory section.
