Description

Castlebank is a curious two-storey house built in 1845, featuring a square plan. The gable front is adorned with a crenellated Gothick screen wall and has three wide windows on the first floor, one of which includes a cast iron balcony. At the attic level, there is an arched loft dovecot entry flanked by blind sunk quatrefoil features. The building is constructed from rubble with droved ashlar dressings. The ground floor was altered in the early 20th century, with a small-paned timber canted bay on the left and a glazed porch on the right. The first-floor openings have been reglazed, and the roof is slated.
