Waverley Lodge And Gate, 19B Queens Crescent, Edinburgh

Waverley Lodge and Gate, located at 19B Queens Crescent in Edinburgh, is a single-storey, three-bay gate lodge possibly designed by David Cousin and dated 1871. The building is constructed of cream sandstone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, featuring squared and snecked rubble on the sides and rear. It has a base course, chamfered quoins, and overhanging eaves.

The north elevation facing Queens Crescent has a gabled entrance adorned with timber bargeboards and finials, a two-leaf panelled door, and single flanking windows. The east elevation facing Dalkeith Road includes a single window on the outer left and a carved central datestone beneath the eaves. The west elevation also features a single window on the outer left.

The windows are made of plate glass and consist of four-pane timber sash and case designs. The roof is pitched with grey slate and has coped ridge stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is enclosed by high coped rubble boundary walls that adjoin the house to the west and south, with a carriage gate to the south.
