Description
Circa 1880. 4 2-storey, 2-bay Free Style Baronial houses forming part of terrace. Cream sandstone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings to principal elevation; squared and snecked rubble to side and rear. Base course; cornices to canted bays; coped skews between houses.
N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: tripartite doorways to 2 central bays and to outer left and penultimate right; 2-leaf panelled doors; plate glass fanlights; carved architraves with panels above doors, segmental-arched to Nos 2 and 8 (No 2 with carved stag's head), round-arched to 2 central doorways; single windows above, those to Nos 2 and 8 pedimented with carved finials. Full-height, 3-light, canted windows to remaining bays; No 8 with broken pediment and polygonal roof; cast-iron finials to roofs.
W (DALKEITH ROAD) ELEVATION: full-height, 3-light canted window to outer right; single windows to both floors to immediate left; single windows to both floors to outer left, at 1st floor breaking eaves with pediment and carved finial.
Predominantly 4-pane, timber, sash and case windows; some plate glass to No 4. Grey slate pitched roof; coped ridge and wallhead stacks.
