Ainslie Cottage, 5 Jordan Lane, Morningside, Edinburgh

Ainslie Cottage is an earlier 19th century single-storey, three-bay cottage located at 5 Jordan Lane in Morningside, Edinburgh. It is constructed from cream sandstone with coursed and squared rubble, featuring droved dressings and droved ashlar quoins.

The south (front) elevation has an architraved entrance doorway at the center, which includes a panelled door and a rectangular plate glass fanlight, with single windows on either side. The north (Jordan Lane) elevation features a single window in each bay.

Both the east and west elevations are gabled and have apex stacks that have been rebuilt. The cottage has timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing and a slate roof, with droved ashlar skews.

The interior was not seen in 1992. The boundary wall consists of a tall rubble wall with flat coping that flanks the Jordan Lane elevation and surrounds a pedestrian doorway.
