40 Marine Road, Port Bannatyne

40 Marine Road in Port Bannatyne is a mid-19th century, symmetrical, two-storey house with an attic and three bays, forming part of a terrace that has been subdivided. The exterior is made of harl-pointed random rubble sandstone with painted margins. It features a raised base course and a lintel course beneath moulded eaves. The house has mutual strip quoins that connect it to the adjacent properties at numbers 39 and 41. The openings have tooled rubble sandstone surrounds with projecting cills and chamfered reveals at the entrance.

On the northeast elevation facing Marine Road, there is a timber panelled door at the centre of the ground floor, which has a replacement fanlight above it. A single window is aligned above the door on the first floor. There are single windows on both floors in the outer left and right bays. The full-width box dormer contains tripartite windows across all bays.

The windows are 6-pane upper and plate-glass lower timber windows, with casements in the dormer. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a raised skew to the east, along with replacement rainwater goods. The house has coped, rendered ridge stacks with various circular cans.

The interior was not seen in 1996.
