Description

Mid 19th century. Symmetrical 2-storey with attic, 6-bay plain classical pair of houses forming part of terrace; subdivided. Harl-pointed random rubble sandstone; slightly raised, painted margins. Painted base course; lintel course beneath moulded eaves. Narrow strip quoins; tooled yellow rubble quoins; tooled long and short surrounds to openings; projecting cills. Chamfered reveals to entrances; corniced doorpiece to No 43.

NE (MARINE PLACE) ELEVATION: timber panelled doors in penultimate bays to outer left (Nos 41 and 42) and right (No 43); bipartite and 4-pane fanlights respectively. Regularly fenestrated in remaining bays at both floors; 3-light canted dormer off-set to left of centre; 3-light canted dormers in bays to outer left and right.

6-pane upper, plate-glass lower timber windows. Grey slate roof; raised skew to NW; rendered ridge and apex stacks; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1996.
