Description
Dolphins and Addview is a building that appears to date from the earlier to mid-19th century, but it may have been constructed shortly after 1809 when the Crinan Canal was built. This two-storey block consists of two houses with a shared gable, each featuring a central door and three bays. The exterior is made of harled rubble, and the houses have sash windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern, end stacks, and a continuous slate roof.
Dolphins, the house on the eastern side, has a wide door with a three-paned rectangular fanlight above it. The window above this door has a cill that is higher than those of the other first-floor windows. There is also a large stair tower at the rear of this house.
Addview features tusking stones on its west gable, indicating an intention to extend the building in that direction. Additionally, there is a low lean-to shed associated with this house.
