Description
Craigieburn is a two-storey house with attics, displaying a late 18th century to early 19th century appearance. It is believed to incorporate a tower house as its rear wing, which is built above the bank of Craigie Burn. The east front features five bays with an entrance bay that formerly had a crow-stepped gable, which was pushed forward in the mid-19th century. The northernmost bay was likely added around the same time. The exterior is rendered with contrasting painted margins and has sash windows.
On the east elevation, the windows in the left bay are asymmetrically arranged, while the remaining ground floor windows have 12-pane glazing. The first-floor windows are larger and fitted with plate glass, with lintels that connect to a simple cornice and a small blocking course. There are brick end stacks, including a coped ashlar stack over the entrance, flat-roofed dormers, and slated roofs, with the main roof covered in graded slates.
Inside, there is some cornice plasterwork and reeded marble chimney pieces.
