Description
Colonsay House, dated 1722, is a Georgian building featuring an oblong main block connected by quadrant wings to two outlying pavilions. The exterior is harled with slate roofs. The main block consists of two storeys and an attic, with three windows across its front. It has a piended roof with a platform top, ashlar chimneys, and piended dormers. A gabled porch and a Palladian window are notable features, and above the door is an inscription reading "M.M./B.C. 1722."
The pavilions are one storey with attics and have piended roofs. They feature Palladian windows facing the fore-court. At the rear of the wings, there are flat-roofed additions that are also one storey. Long one-storey east wings were added to the front around 1830 and to the rear around 1890, with an upper storey added around 1910, creating a court.
