65 North Esk Road, Montrose

65 North Esk Road is an early 19th century, two-storey, three-bay house that is part of an irregular terrace. The building features coursed grey and brown sandstone with ladder pinning on the front, while the sides and rear are harled. It has raised chamfered margins and an eaves band course.

On the east elevation, the central doorway has a narrow rectangular fanlight above it, with a window directly above on the first floor. The flanking bays each have a window on both the ground and first floors. There is a piended and harled addition to the right, which has an off-set window and another window on the south-facing return.

The north elevation shows a gable end with a small window off-set to the left in the gablehead. There is a piended addition to the left at ground level and a lean-to structure in the center with a door.

The south elevation is adjacent to 63 North Esk Road. The west elevation consists of three bays on the ground floor and two windows on the first floor.

The building has replacement timber-framed modern pivot windows, but retains an original six-pane window in the gablehead on the north side. The roof is covered with purple-grey slate, featuring stone skews and skewputts, along with brick gablehead stacks.

The property is enclosed by cast-iron railings and a gate at the front (east), with a rubble boundary wall at the rear (northwest).
