Description

1, 3 and 5 Caledonia Street is a two-storey and attic, four-bay tenement building dated 1850, forming part of a terrace with an integrated design. The front is finished in sandstone ashlar, while the rear is squared and snecked. It features a base course, a first-floor cill band course, and an eaves cornice, with architraved margins.

On the south elevation, there is a central pilastered doorpiece with an entablature and mutule cornice, along with a rectangular four-pane fanlight. Two doorways flank new windows, and there are two additional windows with raised cills. The first floor has four windows that are symmetrically arranged. A bowed dormer is located above the outer bays.

The west elevation adjoins 73-77 Ferry Street, and the east elevation adjoins 7 Caledonia Street. The north elevation features a central semi-circular projection with a single bay on either side.

The building has replacement timber-framed windows and a grey slate pitched roof with coped skews. There is a corniced ashlar ridge stack on the party wall to the west and a rendered ridge stack to the east.
