27-31 Murray Street, Montrose

27-31 Murray Street is a late 18th to early 19th century, two-storey, five-bay tenement that forms part of an irregular terrace, featuring a shop at the ground level. There is a later addition to the rear that creates an L-plan layout, and the building is finished with lined render.

The west elevation is symmetrical, showcasing a shopfront with a central door flanked by large plate glass windows. The first floor has five windows that are regularly spaced.

The north elevation connects with 21-25 Murray Street, while the south elevation connects with 33/35 Murray Street.

On the east elevation, there is a later two-storey, two-bay addition on the left that is advanced and features a bipartite window at the ground level. To the right, the original house has three bays set back, with a piended tower on the left that includes a porch and a window above, along with two windows on the right at the first floor.

The building has timber sash and case windows, with plate glass at the front and four-pane windows at the first floor to the rear. The roof is covered with graded grey slate, with a grey slate pyramidal roof on the addition. A towering brick stack is located on the party wall to the south.

Additionally, there is a harled boundary wall to the east.
