21-25 Murray Street, Montrose

21-25 Murray Street is a late 18th to early 19th century, two-storey and attic, three-bay tenement that forms part of an irregular terrace, featuring a shop at ground level. The building has a painted sandstone ashlar facade at the ground level, with painted lined render above and squared rubble at the rear. It includes a base course, a fascia above the ground floor, and a bracketed cornice, topped with a tympany gable.

The west elevation features a central doorway with a narrow rectangular fanlight, a recessed doorway immediately to the left, and a window to the left of that. To the right of the doorways is a larger window, with a blocked doorway at the extreme right. The first floor has three windows that are symmetrically arranged, with a tympany gable above the central window. There is a small piended dormer above the outer bays.

The north elevation adjoins 17/19 Murray Street, while the south elevation connects with 27-31 Murray Street. The east elevation has two windows at the first floor and a pitched roof addition to the left.

The building features four-pane timber sash and case windows at the first floor, with plate glass windows elsewhere. It has a grey slate pitched roof with stone skews and tall brick gablehead stacks, along with a rendered stack on the tympany. Additionally, there is a brick boundary wall (part) to the east.
