Parish Council Chambers, 32-34 Panmure Street, Brechin

The Parish Council Chambers, located at 32-34 Panmure Street in Brechin, was built in 1897 by D Wishart Galloway in a Free Neo-Jacobean style. This single-storey building is constructed of stugged ashlar with broached dressings. The central entrance features a round arched doorpiece with alternately moulded voussoirs that spring directly from dwarf polished granite columns. Flanking the entrance are deeply recessed side lights and a double-leaf door. To the left, there are two bipartite windows, while the right side has a projecting gable with a large three-light window, where the center light is taller and includes a mullion and transom that crosses over an arched transom. The design includes scroll supporting features. Additionally, there are two bipartite windows in the north-east gable. The roof is slated and piended to the east, topped with a plain parapet.
