Description
Mounie Castle, Original Block, dates from 1641, as indicated by raised letters at the stair tower skew. It is a 2-storey building with a dormerless attic, designed in a T-plan. The circular stair tower is located at the center of the east front and features a richly corbelled square top stage, with a small corbelled turret stair in the angle. There is a door on the north side of the stair tower. The exterior is harled with margins, and the chimneyheads have been replaced in red granite ashlar to match the original pattern. The main gables have crowsteps, and there are gablet restorations on the west front. The ground floor is vaulted.
