Description
Ardclach Bell Tower, dated 1655, is a simple square, two-storey tower with a double-pitched roof. The exterior is harled with ashlar dressings. It features a low doorway on the southeast side and two small, irregular windows just below the eaves on the east elevation. The north gable has two small gun-loops, and there is a datestone in the center of the south gable along with one additional small gun-loop. At the apex of the south gable, there is a simple bellcote, and a stumpy corniced stack is located on the north side. The roof is covered with local slate and has a stone ridge.
Inside, the ground floor contains a vaulted chamber, and simple stone stairs lead up to the first-floor room. This room features a chimney piece in the north gable, which is adorned with the monogram MGB flanked by gun-loops.
