Description
Ardclach Parish Church, built in 1844, is a triple-aisled church oriented north to south. It features a rubble construction with tooled rubble dressings. The church has a substantial, wide gabled porch with a round-headed entrance in the center of the north gable. Round-headed windows with simple Y-tracery are set in recessed gables, with three similar windows lighting the east and west elevations and single windows in the south gables. A plain, possibly slightly later, single-storey wing containing a vestry and session room projects from the center of the south gable. At the apex of the north gable, there is a bird-cage bellcote, and a stack is located at the south. The church has three parallel slate roofs that are piended at the outer bays. Inside, the pulpit and some pews have been re-used from the old Ardclach Parish Church. The church is enclosed by a rubble wall, featuring a pair of spearhead cast-iron gates with matching quadrant railings mounted on low coped rubble walls.
