Description
The building is a school located in Ferness Village, dating from the later 19th century. It is a single-storey and attic structure with three bays and a central door. The exterior features harled pointed rubble with tooled dressings and harled flanks. There are two barge-boarded dormers that rise through the eaves in the outer bays, and the windows have 2-pane glazing. The building includes a wing at the rear with coped end stacks and slate roofs.
At the rear (north) of the main building, there is a single-storey, two-bay schoolroom built within the re-entrant, along with a single-storey, single-bay addition that has a piended roof and 6-pane glazing, all covered with slate roofs.
