Description

Ardclach Old Parish Church is a plain T-plan church built in 1765 by Donald McAndrew, which remodelled a church from 1626, as indicated by the roll mouldings on the east gable. The church was heightened and fitted with round-headed windows by George Dunbar and John Wilson between 1836 and 1838. The interior was recast by Alexander Reid in 1892. The structure is made of rubble with tooled dressings and features two entrances on the north elevation, each flanked by a rear wing with round-headed windows that use the lintel as a cill. The long south elevation is lit by four large round-headed windows, with similar windows on the east and west elevations of the rear wing, as well as small gallery windows. The church has lattice pane glazing and a slate roof. Inside, there is a mural memorial from 1766 in the east gable, but the galleried interior has been stripped of most fittings.
