Nile Cottage, 13 Seafield Terrace, Portsoy

Nile Cottage, located at 13 Seafield Terrace in Portsoy, dates from around 1820. This is a two-storey house with a dormerless attic and a wide three-bay south-facing façade. The exterior is harled with plain reveals. The central entrance features a double leaf panelled door and a rectangular fanlight above. There is a first-floor window and a small attic light in the west gable. The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing. The house has masonry end stacks, two modern Velux roof lights, flat skews, a dark pottery ridge, and a slate roof. At the east gable, there is a modern single-storey flat-roofed kitchen extension.

Inside, the ground and first floor former parlour (to the west) has decorative plaster cornices, moulded skirting boards, a dado rail, and an original wooden chimney piece with fluted jambs. There is also a mural alcove designed to accommodate a grandfather clock at the foot of the stairs.
