29, 30 Market Square, Stonehaven

29 and 30 Market Square in Stonehaven is an early 19th-century, two-storey and attic, three-bay terraced flatted dwelling that has been altered over time. The building features a shop on the ground floor and is constructed from painted machine-stugged ashlar with contrasting stone margins and a deep base course.

The south elevation, which is the principal front, has a broad shop door with a two-part fanlight in the center. To the left, there is a three-part display window with top lights, and to the right, a similar single window. An in-canted doorway with a panelled timber door is located at the outer right, all set beneath a fascia. The first floor has three regularly spaced windows close to the eaves, and there are two polygonal-roofed canted dormers above the outer bays.

The windows feature a combination of four-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case frames. The building is topped with coped ashlar stacks, one of which is truncated, and includes thackstanes and cans, some of which are polygonal. The skews are also finished with ashlar coping.
