Description
43 Castle Street in Banff is a pair of dwellings dating from around 1850, featuring two storeys and an attic. The building is constructed from dark local whinstone, with polished and tooled ashlar dressings. The centre of the façade has paired doors set within a double corniced and pilastered doorpiece. On the left side, there is an original aproned window for No 41, while the right side has a narrow three-bay shop front for No 43. The first floor has regular window arrangements, and there are later 19th-century canted dormers in the outer bays. The windows consist of 12-pane glazing, plate glass, and four-pane windows in the dormers, all made of timber sash and case. The building features corniced end stacks, which are heightened on the right side, and has a slate roof.
