Description
5 St Catherine Street in Banff is an early 19th century, two-storey house with an attic and five bays. The exterior is harled with painted tooled ashlar margins. The central entrance features a later 19th century panelled door, with blocked windows on either side. The house has 12-pane timber sash and case glazing, and late 19th century canted wallhead dormers in the outer bays, which include plate glass and 4-pane glazing, also made of timber sash and case. The roof has flat skews with run-off skewputts, and there are corniced tooled ashlar stacks at the ends. The slate roof completes the exterior.
Inside, the house retains early 19th century beaded panelled window shutters in the first-floor room, specifically in bays 1 and 2, which may have served as the former parlour.
