Forbes House, 77, 79, 81 High Street, Banff

Forbes House, located at 77, 79, and 81 High Street in Banff, dates back to 1741 and is built on an earlier site that may include older materials. This three-storey building features a dormerless attic and has three bays, with a return gable facing Boyndie Street. The exterior is harled with painted ashlar margins, and the ground floor has been modernized to accommodate two shops, flanking the original central door. The first-floor windows have been enlarged to bipartite style in the outer bays.

On the northern gable facing Boyndie Street, there are two first-floor windows, a single second-floor window, and a small attic window, which includes seating for two iron grill bars in the sill and lintel. The windows are fitted with plate glass and four-pane glazing in timber sash and case frames.

The building features crowstepped gables and deep roll-moulded copes on the corniced end stacks, along with cavetto skewputts, particularly on the northern side facing Boyndie Street, which displays a grotesque mask.
