11 Market Square, Stonehaven

11 Market Square in Stonehaven is a mid-19th century, two-storey and attic, three-bay terraced dwelling that has been altered. The building features ashlar stone with coursed squared rubble on the sides. It has a first-floor cill course and an eaves course, with chamfered arrises.

The north elevation is symmetrical above ground. At the ground level, there is a shop door with flanking fixed display windows to the right of center, and a further large altered display window to the left, all beneath a bracketed fascia. The first floor has three evenly spaced windows, and there are two polygonal-roofed canted dormers above the outer bays, flanking a full-width mansard roof that has an out-of-character central rooflight.

On the west elevation facing Barclay Street, there is a gabled bay to the left with a modern door to the right at ground level and a window to the outer left on the first floor. To the right, there is a narrow bay with a window and door at ground level, a single window on the first floor, and a polygonal-roofed canted dormer above.

The building features modern non-traditional glazing, grey slate roofing, and has coped ashlar stacks with polygonal cans, as well as ashlar-coped skews with flat skewputts.
