Description

The Church Hall on Seafield Street in Portsoy was built in 1815, with a clock tower added in 1876. Originally a parish church, it features a long south elevation with four bays. The clock tower has a doorway at its base on the west gable and an additional entrance on the east side. The building is constructed from coursed dark rubble, accented with contrasting sandstone ashlar dressings. The long south elevation is illuminated by four round-headed windows with keystones, and it has a deep moulded eaves cornice.

The four-stage clock tower, which has a corbelled and crenellated parapet, is attached to the west return gable. It includes a louvred Venetian window in the third stage that vents the bell loft, with a clock face positioned in the stage above. A two-storey porch at the east gable features a crenellated wallhead. The long south windows have multi-pane bordered glazing, and the building has a slate roof. There is a modern single-storey addition at the rear.

Inside, there are no notable features remaining.

Additionally, there is a war memorial featuring a kilted soldier on a plinth that stands on a stepped base. The memorial includes an inscription honoring those who fell in the First World War (1914-1918) and the Second World War (1939-1945). A low spearhead cast-iron railing encloses the memorial.
