Dwelling to rear of 162 Head Rd, Kilkeel, Newry, Co Down, BT34 4XH

This is a single-story, one-bay house with a single-story, one-bay extension to its left gable, situated on a hillside overlooking cultivated land. The house, likely built between 1840 and 1859, faces south. It has a corrugated iron roof with cement copings and a chimney on the left gable. The walls are constructed of roughly dressed, coursed granite rubble. There are 3x3 sliding sash windows located on either side of a central, T&G boarded door. The extension has a slate roof and a chimney on its left gable, with a single plain sliding sash window. The gables and rear of the house have no openings. A clear break line distinguishes the house from the extension. The building first appears on the 1901 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map, suggesting a later 19th-century construction date. It may be associated with nearby quarries. It is a vernacular building, typical of the area, and is currently used as a house.
