9 Hilltown Road, Newry, Co Down

A single-storey/ four-bay house located on east side of Hilltown Rd. Roof is pitched and natural slated with projecting gabled roof over front door on second bay from left. There are three stepped rendered chimneys - one to each gable end and a third at right on second bay from left (HMBB photograph of 1970 shows a fourth chimney at left of second bay). Half-round plastic rainwater goods. Walls are wet dashed with smooth render basecourse. Main entrance at right on second bay from left. Door is modern six panelled stained timber with semicircular fanlight inset. All windows are modern stained timber top-hung, with granite cills. Each bay has one window, except third bay from left, which has two. Left and right gables are plain. Rear elevation not inspected. A modern bungalow has been built on site of formerly smithy at right of house.
