Description
The house at Ballylig Road, Magheramorne, Larne, Co Antrim, was built between 1840 and 1859. It was a one-and-a-half storey house with a lean-to addition to the rear. The walls were harled and whitewashed, and the roof was slated. The front entrance had a sheeted door topped with a rectangular fanlight divided into five panes, flanked by double-hung windows with cross glazing bars in the sashes. The entrance bay was slightly recessed, and the windows and door were topped with label mouldings. A rendered chimney was also present.
Originally appearing on an Ordnance Survey map of 1857, the house served as a gate lodge associated with the earlier Magheramorne House. It was superseded as a gate lodge when the present Magheramorne House was constructed in 1880. The building has since been demolished and replaced by a modern house.
