Masonic Hall, St Johns Place, Larne, Co Antrim

The former Masonic Hall, built sometime between 1859 and 1896 and first shown on the 1896 Ordnance Survey map of County Antrim, was located on St Johns Place in Larne. It was a single-storey building with painted rubble and rendered walls, and slated roofs topped with decorative “wi” finials. The main facade featured an elaborately shaped gable and a steeply pitched porch with a shaped gable above a panelled door, which itself was topped by a simple two-centre arched fanlight. Double-hung windows with horizontal glazing bars were set within two-centre arched openings. The building was demolished in the 1970s or 1980s, and the site has since been absorbed into a new roadway and housing development, as well as gardens.
