First Trust Bank, Upper Main Street, Larne, Co Antrim

This is a three-storey bank building dating from 1938, designed by Samuel Stevenson of Belfast. It exemplifies an inter-war building in a Neo-Georgian style, though executed in a restrained and conservative manner. Constructed in rustic brick with a stone plinth, the building is five windows wide, with the three central windows projecting forward beneath a raking parapet. The upper floors feature rectangular timber sliding sash windows, vertically hung with 8 over 8 glazing and horns. Circular windows are present in the outer bays of the top floor. The building occupies a prominent position on Upper Main Street, directly on the road and flanked by one and two-storey commercial premises. Originally built as a branch of the Belfast Savings Bank, it remains in use as a bank.
