Gardenmore Hall, Pound Street, Larne, Co Antrim

Gardenmore Hall was originally built as the second Presbyterian Church, known as Gardenmore Presbyterian, between 1860 and 1879. It was designed by Young and McKenzie, with the designs prepared in 1868-9, and a schoolroom was later added to their designs in 1880. The building cost £1,500 to construct and first appeared on an Ordnance Survey map in 1896.

The original building was a rectangular structure with a tower centrally placed on the front elevation. It was constructed of blackstone rubble with yellow brick dressings, with windows and doors set in Florentine-arched openings. The side and rear elevations were harled, featuring four windows on each side with semi-circular and circular glazing bars in the heads. The tower was supported by yellow brick buttresses and incorporated an oculus topped with a small window above the doors, paired louvre boards in the top stage, and a pyramidal roof with brick modillions below the eaves course. An extension with a mansard-type roof was added, dated 188?.

The church was superseded by a new church on a separate site in 1915. Subsequently, the building became known as Gardenmore Hall. It was owned by the Antrim Education Committee when it was demolished in the 1970s and replaced by a public library.
