Belfast Bank, 19 Main Street, Larne, Co Antrim

The Belfast Bank, located at 19 Main Street, Larne, County Antrim, was a three-storey building believed to have been constructed between 1820 and 1839, and demolished in the 1970s or 1980s. It originally included a single-storey porch and banking hall. The ground floor and porch were horizontally channeled, surmounted by a moulded string course which continued as a cornice and a pierced ballustrade above the porch. A similar finish was present on the parapet of the banking hall. The upper floors had raised quoins and three windows on each level, set within square, moulded architraves. The first-floor windows were plain, while the second-floor windows possessed full glazing bars. The banking hall's plain sash windows were flanked by plain pilasters supporting semi-circular arches with moulded archivolts and keystones. Modillions supported the eaves cornice, and the roof was slated. The main entrance door was set in a square, moulded architrave. A 1956 Planning Report provides further details. The building operated as a bank and was of commercial ownership.
