Description

This is a small-scale bridge located near Rosslea in County Fermanagh, likely constructed between 1840 and 1859. It is a typical example of a bridge of the period and possesses some industrial archaeological interest.

The bridge has a semicircular span, carrying a one-and-a-half lane road over a stream. It is constructed entirely of sandstone; the abutments are built from dressed blocks laid in courses, while the spandrels and parapets are of random sandstone blocks. Sloping, splayed wing walls extend to either side, built in a similar random style. The parapets are coped with concrete. A metal pipe, part of which is now missing, runs across the downstream (western) face of the bridge.

The bridge first appears on the 1858 Ordnance Survey six-inch map, confirming its mid-19th century construction date.
