Description
A late 19th-century house stood at Knockawaddy, Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh, but has since been demolished to allow for the construction of a replacement dwelling. The house first appears on the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map of 1857, with a revision in 1907. While its exact date of construction could not be determined from valuation records, it is thought to have been built between 1860 and 1879. The 1983 survey card describes the building as a two-story house with a hipped, slated roof. It had two smooth, rendered cross-wall chimneys lacking pots, clay ridges, and half-round gutters on corbelled eaves. The walls were lime-washed, and the windows were double-hung sashes with margin panes and projecting stone sills. A recent double door was fitted, accompanied by a fanlight with margin panes above. Projecting footings were visible at the base of the walls.
