Description
This is a single-storey Orange Lodge, constructed between 1880 and 1899, located near Rose Lough in the townland of Mullycavan, Rosslea, County Fermanagh. The lodge’s design is similar to a nearby example at Inver. A prominent, central projecting porch is aligned northeast-southwest. The roof is pitched and covered in natural slate, with a rendered chimney at each gable. An advanced eaves course supports half-round cast-iron rainwater goods. The walls are wet-dashed and painted over a random rubble base. The primary, northwest-facing elevation features the projecting porch centrally, with a semicircular-headed entrance set within its end face. The entrance door is tongue-and-groove sheeted, with a plain glazed transom above. A thin timber architrave rests on plinth blocks. A datestone above the door reads “A.D./1899”. Flanking the porch on the main block are boarded windows with painted stone sills. The left and right gables are blank. A modern lean-to return is attached to the rear elevation’s left end. This return is constructed of concrete blocks, finished to match the main walls, and has a corrugated metal roof, with blank exposed faces. The front of the lodge has a small garden enclosed by a concrete wall with square-in-section gate piers and a cast-iron gate facing the lane. The lodge was formerly used as a hall and is currently used as a hall, owned by the Orange Order.
