Description

This is a distinctive red postbox dating from the reign of Edward VII. The postbox is a freestanding cast iron cylinder, bearing the insignia of Edward VII. It is painted red with a flat dome top and a black base. It is situated on the inner side of the footway, set against a low boundary wall. Manufactured and erected between 1900 and 1919, during or shortly after Edward VII’s reign, it is located within the Town Parks townland and is a notable feature within the local conservation area. The postbox exhibits interest due to its style, proportions, and ornamentation, and holds local historical significance.
