93-95 Main Street, Greyabbey, Newtownards, Co. Down, BT22 2NE

A pair of non-identical, single-storey terrace dwellings, likely built before 1834, now derelict, are situated on the south-east side of Main Street, Greyabbey. Number 93 has an asymmetrical front (north-west) elevation featuring a dilapidated timber stable door with a fanlight lacking glass, centrally positioned with a single window opening to its left and two to its right, all currently boarded. A modern garage is attached to the north-east gable, and a small attic window is high in the exposed gable section. Number 95 features a central doorway with a plain, sheeted timber door and a glassless fanlight, flanked by a single boarded window opening on either side. Both houses are finished with rough cast render and have corrugated asbestos pitched roofs, along with three rendered chimney stacks. Number 95 also has a cast iron down spout and some dilapidated guttering. Access to the rear is unavailable, and the buildings are in very poor condition. Buildings are shown on the 1834 Ordnance Survey map, potentially corresponding to the current block, and it’s possible these were among the ‘ground floor’ houses mentioned in the 1834 Ordnance Survey Memoirs description of Greyabbey.
