Description
15 and 17 Oriel Road are a pair of 1½-storey houses built between 1920 and 1939 as part of a ‘Soldiers and Sailors Housing Scheme’ designed by the Northern Ireland Office of Works for returning servicemen after the First World War. This type of housing was constructed throughout Northern Ireland, following standardised plans and elevations. The houses have rendered walls, hipped roofs, and common brickwork chimneys. They are set back from the main road and have gardens in front. Later, inappropriate alterations have been made to the buildings which have diminished their original character and appearance.
