Description
37 Castle Street in Antrim was a three-bay, two-storey house, likely built between 1820 and 1839 based on its appearance on the 1833 Ordnance Survey map. The building had rendered walls and a slated roof, with brick chimneys. The entrance was recessed within a segmental arched opening flanked by clustered columns, with bricked-up sidelights. A modern flush door was fitted, and the fanlight featured looped glazing. One ground floor window retained full glazing bars, while the upper windows were plain sashed. The house was demolished to make way for a road. It was first surveyed in 1970 and is referenced in the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society’s publication, Antrim and Ballymena.
