Description
69 Tower Street is a mid-19th century house with later alterations and additions. It is a single-storey building with an attic, featuring three bays and a wing to the northeast, situated at the end of a terrace. The exterior is finished in painted stugged ashlar with some areas of render repairs and finely droved ashlar dressings, while the southwest elevation is rendered. Quoin strips are present on the building.
On the southeast elevation, there is a deep-set door in the center with a plate glass letterbox fanlight above and a corniced doorpiece. To the right, there is a window at ground level with a dormer above that breaks the eaves. To the left, a half-piended canted window at ground level also has a dormer above, breaking the eaves. The slightly set back wing on the outer right has two windows.
The northwest elevation was not seen in 1995. The building features 4-pane timber sash and case windows and has a slate roof, with a coped wallhead stack on each side elevation.
The boundary wall, gatepiers, and railings consist of a sandstone ashlar coped whinstone wall with fine cast-iron railings. The gatepiers are made of ashlar, stop-chamfered, and are square in plan with shaped tops.
