Description
21 Tower Street is an early 19th century, two-storey, four-bay house and workshop that has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of whinstone rubble, featuring red sandstone droved ashlar tabs at the margins of the first floor, with concrete margins also at the first floor. Timber lintels are present over the openings at the ground level.
The southwest elevation, which is the principal elevation, is irregular in design. On the ground floor, there is a window to the left of the inner bay, with a boarded door above it on the first floor, accompanied by a five-pane rectangular fanlight. This section features a 1950s concrete, cantilevered forestair. There is a window on each floor of the outer left bay. To the inner right, a boarded door is flanked by a narrower boarded door immediately to the right. The outer right bay also has a window on each floor. The first-floor windows are six-pane timber sash and case, while the ground floor has fixed-pane windows. The building is topped with a modern corrugated roof that includes wallhead stacks on the side elevations.
