Description
Bowden Gate to Inwood is a gateway built in the late 19th century. It features brick piers topped with stone, and ornate gates and railings made of cast and wrought iron. The piers have stone plinths and caps, with purple brick quoins on the red brick shafts. The end piers are taller and have elaborate scrolled finials. The central gates are very decorative in a French style, featuring curved sweep top rails. The brick wing walls are set at an angle and have semi-circular arches with matching pedestrian gates. This gateway is part of a large estate that includes many notable features, although the main house, built in 1881, is of lesser interest and is not listed.
