Description

No. 2 Broad Street is a mid-19th century house with a shop, situated in a row of buildings. Its irregular rhomboid shape is a result of the street widening that occurred during the 19th century. The exterior is rendered and colourwashed, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has three storeys and two bays. The ground floor features a 20th-century shop front with a central recessed doorway, while the upper floors have late 20th-century casement windows. An enamelled sign displaying "Broad Street" is framed to the right at first floor level. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of the development that took place after Broad Street, formerly known as Wette or Water Lane, was widened between 1835 and 1849. It is included for its group value.
