Description
No. 8 Broad Street is a shop with a house above, dating from the mid-19th century. The building is rendered and features plain pilaster strips, with a Welsh slate roof that extends on both sides and brick stacks.
The exterior has three storeys and two bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front with a central doorway, and to the right, there is a yard gateway with a painted moulded stone architrave and a pair of later 20th-century iron gates. The upper floors are adorned with 12-pane sash windows in plain openings. There is a bracket for a hanging sign located between the bays at the first floor level.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of the development that occurred when Broad Street, formerly known as Wette or Water Lane, was widened between 1835 and 1849. It is included for its group value with other buildings in the area.
