Description

Greengates is a house dating from 1676, as indicated by the semi-circular stone above the doorway inscribed with "G.I.A 1676". The building is constructed of rubble and features a double-Roman tiled roof with a coped verge and two brick stacks. It stands two storeys high and has three bays, with three-light stone-mullioned windows, and a central first-floor window with two lights. The central door opening contains a ribbed door, and there is an additional 20th-century three-quarter glazed door to the left. Notably, Greengates was used as a non-conformist meeting house in 1770 before the adjacent chapel was built.
