Description
The Chimes is an 18th-century house located on the north side of High Street, Evercreech. The construction is of coursed and squared rubble with a triple-Roman tiled roof, incorporating coped verges and brick stacks. The building presents a symmetrical three-bay frontage. The first floor has two-light casements set within edge-moulded stone surrounds. The ground floor features two-light metal casements within similar stone surrounds, contained within wooden frames. Cornice hoods cover the windows. A central door opening is framed by a stone architrave, currently featuring a mid-20th century door and a moulded stone slab hood supported on moulded stone brackets. While the fabric of the building is believed to be of earlier origin, no visible evidence of this has been found.
